Mayun and Katrina Höglund

Mayun and Katrina Höglund lived in Sandarne, Sweden. Mayun was the pastor of the church in Sandarne. Named Mayun or Magnus Anderson at his birth on March 19, 1844 in Åsarne in Jäntland using the patronymic naming system after his father, Anders Mansson. In this older naming system children were given a surname composed of their father's Christian name with "son" or "dotter" for a son or daughter. Many people used another name, often related to their occupation or where they lived, to be more unique. Höglund means "Tall Grove".

Katrina, born on May 23, 1841, was named Katrina Kristina Olsdotter. Her father was Olaf Olson.

Mayun and Kartina had three children: Maria, Teresa, and Selma. However, Katrina died with the complications of child birth when Selma was born in 1874.

Pastor Mayun Höglund was able to baptize his grandson in Sandarne before his daughter, Maria left to join her husband in America.
