Henry and Alvina

Henry and Alvina Reimer

Henry wanted to be a farmer. His father was contemptuously against such an ungentlemanly occupation but Henry got his start with help from his mother. She lent him money from her dowry to buy the farm near Richmond, Michigan.

Both Henry and Alvina were born in Michigan; Henry on November 12, 1856 and Alvina on April 18, 1866. They had three children: Lillian (1888), Henry Rudolph (1892) and Elizabeth (1895). Henry Jr. moved out west, being a ranch hand, barber and orange picker along the way. He finally settled in California as a policeman in Los Angeles.
