Heinrich and Elizabeth Reimer

Heinrich and Elizabeth were both born in Germany in the 1820's. Heinrich left Germany to avoid the military draft as that forming nation suffered the revolutions of the 1840's. Henry was a cooper, a manufacturer of barrels. He and Elizabeth raised their family in Richmond, Michigan. Heinrich considered himself a gentleman and received mysterious monies from Germany each month which helped him.

Heinrich and Elizabeth had four children: Lydia, Ida, Anna and Henry. Lydia was a close friend of "Diamond Jim" Brady, the railroad tycoon.
